Evolve for non-surgical body sculpting is attracting lots of interest, and with fame comes comparison with other popular options—especially CoolSculpting. But while CoolSculpting freezes fat to trim you down, Evolve uses radiofrequency (RF) energy, which generates a controlled heat that can reduce fat and tighten skin, as well as electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) to tone muscle groups.
Curious about replacing some of your gym routine with non-surgical body contouring? To help you choose, we explain how the non-surgical trifecta Evolve compares with CoolSculpting.
How Evolve body contouring works
When you come to our Joplin Medspa for Evolve, you have three options to choose from based on your goals and the area you need treated:
- Evolve Tite for skin tightening: This radiofrequency (RF)-driven body sculpting device targets the top layers of the skin with a controlled heat that stimulates increased collagen production, thereby remodeling your skin to be firmer, tighter, and more youthful-looking.
- Evolve Trim for fat reduction: Using a customized depth of RF, Trim heats subdermal fat layers to a controlled temperature that destroys the fat cells without causing you discomfort.
- Evolve Tone for muscle toning: Tone delivers electromagnetic stimulation (EMS) to tone the muscles—as though you’d done an impossible number of crunches. Repeat treatments keep areas that are difficult to tone in the gym looking smooth and strong.
2023 Note: InMode Aesthetics, the maker of Evolve, combined Evolve Trim, Tite & Tone into Evolve Transform – a single applicator that utilizes the technology of all three devices in a single treatment. Read more about Evolve Transform here.
Your treatment experience will be similar whether you choose Evolve or CoolSculpting
There are a few basic similarities between Evolve and CoolSculpting: both are non-invasive and non-surgical. They each have an applicator that is applied directly to the treatment area, and each takes less than an hour. With repeat treatments, both can achieve noteworthy results for the right patient, but you will have to wait a few weeks to see full results from Evolve and a few months to see results from CoolSculpting.
While CoolSculpting uses cold temperatures, Evolve uses radiofrequency (RF) energy for a controlled warm temperature.
Indeed, the Evolve Trim treatment experience is a somewhat similar treatment to CoolSculpting. The hands-free applicator vacuums to the skin and sends radiofrequency energy deep below the top layer to cause apoptosis of adipocytes—in other words, it kills the fat cells. The vacuum-suction CoolSculpting applicator feels similar, but rather than delivering a gentle warmth, it delivers a very cold temperature that causes the fat cells to die. Both can be used in most of the same areas, with comparable results. And neither harms surrounding tissues.
The major difference that we see? CoolSculpting feels freezing cold, while Evolve feels warm, so you may have a slightly more comfortable experience with Evolve.
CoolSculpting can’t match the skin-tightening and muscle-toning effects of the Evolve trifecta
While Evolve Trim can be easily compared with CoolSculpting, Tite and Tone offer a completely different kind of body contouring: instead of killing fat cells, these two treatments focus on remodeling firmer skin with better elasticity (Tite) and stimulating muscles for visible definition and strength (Tone).
Consult with a board-certified cosmetic surgeon to understand all of your options, from non-surgical, to minimally invasive, to surgical.
In short, the suite of Evolve handpieces can be used to achieve a number of different results from all three procedures, allowing you to fully personalize your results. By contrast, CoolSculpting is one-size-fits-most body contouring, focused on fat reduction.
How to choose a body contouring procedure
If you are on the fence about which body contouring procedure will meet your goals, schedule a consultation with a board certified cosmetic surgeon who offers surgical, minimally invasive, and nonsurgical body contouring—this way, you’ll have options. Talk to your surgeon about your desired results, and look at the before and after photos of patients like you to see what is possible with each treatment option.
While non-surgical options may initially seem to be less costly, the need for repeat procedures can mean that costs add up to be the same or even more than that of minimally invasive body contouring or surgical procedures. In a consultation, your surgeon can recommend the best procedure to achieve results. Their experience will be invaluable in helping you decide which procedure is going to work best for you—while also considering what fits your lifestyle and will give you the optimum bang for your buck.
