From Brow Lamination to Botox, All the Ways You Can Improve the Look of Your Brows

Young woman with fresh skin and thick rejuvenated brows

The eyes are windows to our soul—but the brows help determine how defined and refreshed our eyes appear! While most of us aren’t going all-in for eyebrow transplants like Chrissy Teigen, there are other effective ways to enhance your natural brows and create definition in your upper face, many with little to no downtime.

Here at Maningas Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Maningas and our expert team offer brow treatments that are non-surgical, minimally invasive, and surgical, all of which address different nuanced concerns you have about your brows.

    1. Esthetician eyebrow enhancements

If you want to add temporary pop to your brows, our esthetician offers medspa services to get your naturally healthy brows in shape, from a change in color to long-lasting shaping:

    • Eyebrow Tint: Temporarily enhance your look by filling your natural brows and defining your arches with a custom color.
    • Deluxe Brow Design: We shape, wax, and tint your brows to give them a noteworthy transformation.
    • Brow Lamination: Like a perm for your eyebrows, this treatment involves setting your brows for a uniform shape and fullness that lasts about 2 months.

While our experienced esthetician will give you gorgeous, Instagram-worthy results, all are temporary, so if you want to keep your look, schedule touch-ups at recommended intervals. You may also choose to combine medspa brow treatments with an injectable brow lift from our nurse injector—keep reading to learn how it works!

    2. Neuromodulator (i.e. BOTOX®) brow lift

Neuromodulator (Botox, Dysport®, Xeomin®, or Jeuveau®) is most often used to soften wrinkles in the forehead and between the eyebrows. Injected into the facial muscles, neuromodulator relaxes the muscle, stops it from forming the facial expression that creates the dynamic wrinkles, and thereby stops the wrinkles from becoming etched into your skin (or becoming a static wrinkle).

Using a neuromodulator, we can also very subtly lift your brows’ arches, or elevate the height of the brows. The orbicularis oculi muscle, which encircles the eye, can pull your brow downward. A small amount of neuromodulator is injected into this muscle at the tail of the brow to stop this action temporarily. When the Botox kicks in (a matter of a few days to 2 weeks), the brow tail will appear slightly elevated, and effects last 3 months or longer.

If you do not already get Botox in the glabellar area (11s) between the eyebrows, our injectors suggest many patients consider adding this area to complement your injectable brow lift. This helps to lift the middle brow area and creates an overall stunning brow look, smoothing the skin to enhance your improved brow arch.

    3. Dermal fillers to enhance the brow arch

The small fat pad located beneath our eyebrows raises our arches and creates that shiny spot below the arch (the spot where you’re supposed to apply a little pale-colored eyeshadow to enhance the light and shadow around your eyes).

Like all fat pads in our face, the brow arch fat pad can thin out and fall as we grow older, contributing to the “hollow” look we associate with aging. To address signs of aging or simply to help enhance the arch, we can inject dermal fillers to thicken the fat pad and enhance your arch. In this area, we use a thicker filler formula like Juvéderm Voluma™, which stays in place for up to 2 years.

    4. Brow lift surgery

Brow lift, also called forehead lift or browplasty, reverses signs of aging like a sagging and furrowed brow, deep-set forehead wrinkles, or excess skin and fat hanging over the eyes. With incisions hidden within the hair line, this procedure lifts and repositions underlying musculature, removes excess skin, and restores a smooth, taut brow and forehead.

Unlike the other minimally-invasive brow enhancement options we offer, a brow lift is a surgical procedure that requires about 1-2 weeks of social downtime. For this reason, a brow lift is usually the choice procedure for those with more progressed signs of aging in the upper face.
