Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections give a boost to the healing process for wounds and soft tissue. It involves withdrawing blood, processing it so only the enriched cells (PRP) remain, and injecting it back into the person. The injections can be used for hair loss, smoothing wrinkles or restoring volume. PRP can also be applied topically and combined with other procedures like laser resurfacing, microneedling and fat transfer for enhanced results and quicker healing.

When done as a stand along treatment or combined with another, PRP injections themselves do not have any downtime or long recovery process. It’s common to experience some sensitivity during the treatment or after at injections. Minimal bruising and swelling may occur. We proved topical numbing and pro-nox for added patient comfort during treatment if needed.

This depends on the treatment area and specific goals. For hair restoration, 3-5 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart may be needed. For wrinkles and fine lines, treatments every 3-4 months may be needed. A consultation with our aesthetic nurse injector will give patients a better idea of exactly what treatment regimen would be recommended.
There may some sensitivity during and after treatment. Every patient tolerates pain a little differently. At Maningas Cosmetic Surgery, we do offer options like topical numbing, local numbing shots and pro-nox to ensure patients are comfortable and relaxed. Any discomfort after treatment is well managed with Tylenol or Ibuprofen.
With PRP injections, we typically encourage patients to wait 4-6 hours after injection to do any type of vigorous work outs.
